Compared to 2013, this year’s anime were rather lackluster. Last year had Monogatari Series Second Season, A Certain Scientific Railgun S, Bakuman, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Non Non Biyori, Madoka Magica Rebellion, White Album 2, Psycho-Pass… it’s hard to measure up to all that. Regardless, there were certainly some standouts in 2014, and those are the ones that made the cut!
Since I actually watched the Persona 4 anime before playing the game, I figured I would re-watch it now that I’ve completed P4 Golden. This isn’t a review of either, just comparing some of the strengths/weaknesses of each against each other. I will be avoiding major spoilers throughout, so don’t worry!
A rhythm game was certainly not high on my list for ideas of Vita games to get, yet here I am with a copy of one based entirely on vocaloid music. If you aren’t familiar with vocaloids, they are basically synthetic voices programmed to sing. For an example, check out the below video – it might also work well as background music for this post (and it’s also the opening theme for the game).
Above all else, this is absolutely gorgeous to look at, and is probably the best looking anime out there – and that is not an exaggeration. After watching this for the second time, I looked to see how many screenshots I had taken during the video – it turned out to be 262. When I tried to narrow those down for what to use here, I got it down to 179.
Have you ever made curry? It’s a pretty simple dish, basically a stew of meat and veggies with a roux added in to bring the flavor of the various spices and thicken everything up. I never could have imagined that I would fail so much at making curry as I did in this game. Not that it actually matters too much, but it is a bit depressing, despondent, and woeful. Well, here’s my second “Top 5” list for last year. 2013 felt like a great year for anime, with several series that aired becoming some of my favorites. You’ll probably notice that I don’t have a #5, and I’ve explained why below – there are five anime on this list.
#4 – JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken / JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
#3 – Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S / A Certain Scientific Railgun S
#2 – Psycho-Pass
#1 – Monogatari Series Second Season

With it being a new year and since I’m still on break, I figured I’d outline what reviews/other things I’m planning to do in the relatively near future.
Looking back on it, 2013 had some orgasmic music releases, and it actually took me a while to ultimately narrow down this list – the only one that I was positive about with its placement was #1.
# 5. Alter Bridge – Fortress
# 4. Kajiura Yuki – Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica The Movie
# 3. Queens of the Stone Age – …Like Clockwork
# 2. Steven Wilson – The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)
