30 Day Song Challenge, Day 20: A Song From an Album You Are Looking Forward To

I actually haven’t paid too much attention to what albums are coming out in the near future, or which artists are even putting stuff out soon-ish, so I only have two songs that apply at this time.

I’ve gotten in the habit of not listening to songs from an album before its release/complete leak. I (relatively) recently did this with Foo Fighters, Steven Wilson, Mark Tremonti, reol, etc. But these examples are two exceptions.

First is Serious Beak’s Red (Laniocera hypopyrra). The group’s first album came out three years ago, and I still don’t know how to pronounce the title – Huxwhukw – or half of the song titles – Tuī / Tuō, BaxwbakwalanuksiwéGödel !Xun, etc. Either way, it was an oddly effective brand of metal that combined a dirty sludge with progressive tendencies. Based on this song alone, the follow-up should certainly deliver as well. Also, they have the weirdest/coolest album art.

The other song is Eyes Down by The Butterfly Effect. This song is actually a few years old, and the band haven’t actually acknowledged whether or not it will be on the next album. However, now that they have a new singer, they’ll be putting proper work towards their next release before too long, so I’d imagine it will be included.

The song itself isn’t anything great, but I like the band and am really hoping that the new singer ends up hitting the standard set by Clint Boge, the original singer. He was pretty awesome.

I’m also looking forward to the new Deftones album, but I don’t believe that they’ve previewed any songs for it yet.
